How to get cheaper duty and taxes for Australia

Here is some helpful info that I received from one of my favorite Australian clients. I wanted to pass it on for a reference.

I talked to Australian Customs, they said that if you import <6 months worth of personal consumption of tobacco etc. Then you can apply for a form etc that reduces the import tax from ~50.32% of the total list price to about 20% with also a reduce in ~$24 per kg. Either way, importing from the US would save me a few hundred dollars. This helps as well.
